Lime Therapy joined the Genshare business Network in September 2025. Lime Therapy is the leading multidisciplinary allied health provider in the Mildura region, operating at the heart of the community. Established in 2008 by Renee Kelly (CEO and lead occupational therapist) and Matt Kelly (CFO), the business has built extensive partnerships across government and healthcare networks, including NDIS, TAC, and WorkSafe.
The organisation’s 40-strong team is comprised of highly-skilled and innovative clinicians, delivering a broad spectrum of services: occupational therapy, physiotherapy, hand therapy, exercise physiology, and speech therapy. Driven by passion and professionalism, the team maintains an unwavering commitment to delivering the highest quality of care to the Sunraysia region.
Lime operates from a 752 sqm purpose-built commercial property near Mildura’s city centre. The modern facility includes reception areas, four private offices, 11 consultation rooms, a staff kitchen, a fully equipped rehabilitation gym, and a fully accessible hydrotherapy pool.
We were drawn to Lime Therapy for its deep community impact, distinctive workplace culture, and highly engaged leadership team – factors that together position it as a standout operator in the allied health sector.
Through this deal, Genshare’s model is giving seven senior leaders the chance to step into co-ownership of Lime – something that’s sparked real excitement and a strong sense of empowerment within the team.
We sat down with founders Renee and Matt Kelly to learn more about the history of the business, what convinced them to take the next step, and why they chose to partner with Genshare.

About Lime Therapy
How did Lime therapy start?
Matt: Lime started 15 years ago when Renee had her first child and we were looking to do some part-time work.
Renee: Matt was looking at diversifying on the farm and thought that I could drive a truck down to Melbourne and sell pheasants out the back of the cool room. I said, “how about I go back and be a therapist?” This is what I love, this is what we do. And we had people like the Second World War veterans that were really needing some extra support.
Matt: It’s organically grown as the need has grown, and as people have joined the team, often with particular skill sets and interests.
What were some of your proudest moments running Lime?
Matt: I think building our facility, where we are now. It’s purpose-built – ‘the center of excellence’ we refer to it as – that not only our team come to each day to work, but that also has a great feel. Our community, our clients, our customers, everyone who comes in here, loves the feel of it.
Renee: It really put us in such good stead for the future, having a center that we knew would accommodate the now, and those needs that are going to come in the future. And also to give people confidence in our community that we can rival metro with rehab and therapy and intervention in Mildura.
What do you hope for Lime’s Future?
Renee: That we continue to make decisions that are in the best interests of our community, and the people that need us most. If we do what is in the best interest of the person that needs us, and the community, the rest will sort itself out.
What was the right fit for you when you thought about succession?
Renee: The right fit for us was around values, and trust, and the people. So were they like-minded people who can see what has been built here…how important it is to our team, and how important it is to our community? And for that to be followed on…
Matt: The right fit was certainly support, and recognition for our team was critical for us.
Business Succession
Did you have any concerns about stepping away from ownership?
Renee: We didn’t know how to structure [to give] the people that were giving more of themselves to make Lime what it was, ownership and equity. How can they have skin in the game? We didn’t know how to do that, but desperately wanted that for people now, and in the future.
How did you know when you landed on the right opportunity for succession?
Renee: I knew straight away! When I looked at Genshare’s website in preparation for our conversation, I had this visceral experience of ‘this is it’. And when I saw ‘Gen-share’, I knew this was the next generation for Lime. This is the next chapter. From that moment, I felt like together we were going to come up with a solution with Genshare’s model, and what we needed for that generational change in ownership and equity.
On the succession process
How have you felt throughout the experience?
Renee: Seeing what Genshare was doing really excited me, not only for Lime, but for other businesses that may be in a similar situation. Genshare really wanted to understand who we were, and how important it was for the team to own Lime. It was that people have the opportunity now – and in the future – that they can have equity in a business that they then feel is part of them.
What has been the highlight of your experience so far?
Matt: The communication from Genshare has been really clear from the get-go, with Genshare wanting to understand our business, understand what we do, and understand what motivates our business.
Renee: Genshare has allowed what is one family in Matt and I, to now be seven families in the ownership of Lime…that is embedded into our community.
How did legacy play into the conversations?
Renee: We have worked so hard to embed the values that we live by each day…with ourselves, with our team, with our clients, with our community. And Genshare wanted nothing more than to uphold those, and continue to do what we do.
What would you say to other business owners thinking about succession
Matt: If you’re looking to empower your team and utilise the skills and business knowledge that your business has built up over time, then Genshare’s model is the perfect fit.
Reflections and Advice
How has life changed since the transition began?
Matt: Spending much more time on the farm, feeling on top of things more. The transition process with Genshare has been very organic and it’s felt very natural.
Renee: Seeing the new owners step into owning, running and being part of those day-to-day decisions…it was a really proud moment for me. It’s what we had hoped would happen, and it did. It’s delivered on everything that Genshare said it would.
Final thoughts
Would you recommend Genshare to other business owners?
Matt: We would absolutely recommend Genshare to other business owners. They align perfectly with our values, and moving forward we see huge synergies with what we can do together.
Renee: Ditto. Brilliant.
Is there one word or phrase you would use to describe your experience with Genshare?
Matt: My word would be confidence. Genshare has given us confidence that our business will continue to prosper. We also have confidence that our team members will have opportunities for equity. And also great confidence that our community – our clients – will continue to receive the highest standard of services, which they deserve and will continue to receive.
Renee: Trust. Everything comes down to trust. If you trust someone and you have the same values, you know that you are going to succeed. And that trust in the first conversation was established, and grew, and grew, and grew. I trusted the people, I trusted the model, and I trusted that Lime was going to be in the best hands going into the future.
